I was asked to design and build a firepit and seating area in the style of a Celtic Cross to celebrate the Welsh heritage of the owners. The site was at Tan Hill, Wiltshire.
I decided to use a unique limestone called Blue Lias from Somerset for the best visual impact. Also Wiltshire and Somerset form the ancient Celtic kingdom of Wessex, so it had particular resonance and meaning.
Pure dry stone except for the slabs, only hammers were used no power tools. This is my favourite and most challenging masterpiece to date which I needed all of my experience and skill to create.
